How to setup Google Customized Ads?
Google Customized Ads is a dynamic ad in which user will see an ad copy which is actually designed in Excel. You Ads copy will be dynamically like with your excel field based on that Campaign and Ad Copy level.
Normally in Google Adwords we add area targeting at campaign level, but do you know how to setup Location Targeting at Ad Group Level?
Google Customized ads is the answer. you can set location at ad group level.
As you can see in the below image, their is a screenshot of location targeting in Google Customized Ads.
To Startup with Google Customized Ads follow the steps
- Create an excel file
- Target Keyword
- Heading1
- Heading2
- Description
- Google Adwords
- Shared Library
- Business Data
- "+ Data" Red Button
- Ad Customizer Data
- Select Campaign
- Select Ad Group
- Select Location
- Open All Campaign
- Create Ad Copy
- Add Keywords
Steps in Detail
Create an excel: Create an excel file containing the column names Target Keywords, Heading 1, Heading 2, Description. In Target Keyword enter the keywords where you want that you will ad row will appear. In other words, when user will have that particular keyword in his query you that row's heading 1, heading 2 and description will be triggered on Google Search Engine. Result Page (SERP).
They content you have added in the column will be shown in ad copy based on they keyword that you have entered in "Target Keyword" column. In Excel you can also set formula like heading limit etc as shown in the video.
After that open your Google Adwords Account and in the left side bar in the bottom section select "Shared Library". The section will be open and select business data. Their will be a red button "+Data". When you click on the button a drop down will appear, select "Ad Customizer Data".
New section will appear. Enter the name that you want to keep, the name should be like which can tell you about the details like "Book_area_Ind". This name shows that product name is Book and campaign is running in India and targeting different areas. After entering the name browse file and upload it. " click on "upload and preview". After your excel is uploaded and visible on screen Add Campaign Name and Ad Group. Add Target location if you want to target a specific location.
Open All Campaign open the campaign>Ad Group and create a new ad copy. So firstly enter the final URL.
Heading 1
(Now you have two option)
- Create a full dynamic Heading
- Create static (Fixed) text and dynamic text.
To create a fully dynamic Heading 1 click on the box and enter "{" a drop down will appear and select "Ad Customizer". In case you did not see this option, then select any option and delete it and again press "{". After select Ad Customizer you will be asked to select the name like "Book_area_Ind" then which column you want to insert. In the same way enter heading 2 and description. In case of static but dynamic title focus on word limit. (excel file title limit and static text limit). On the right side you can see preview and below preview screen you can see add titles on screen with the next button. Enter the path name that will be user friendly and keyword relevant.
Now create keywords and you are done!
